Navigating our website is not really complicated, but does require a few steps since we are linking different events and dealing with different credit card processers. The important thing to remember is that you must register to move forward with Membership, Festival Attendance and/or Submitting to the Anthology.
If you’re an ‘old hand’ you might be able to stumble through the process on your own.
If you’re having problems navigating the revised website, here is a guide.
1. Go to www.aipf.org (you’ve already done this if you’re reading this).
2. A. If you are only going to browse, do so at your leisure. You can join API as part of
your browsing by clicking on the 'Membership' Tab, or you can make a donation.
B. If you want to submit poems and/or sign-up for the Festival, click on the 'Festival' tab,
then click on ‘Adult Registration’. Note: you must do this before doing anything except
browsing, joining API, or making a donation!
3. A page listing 3 options appears. Decide which of the three registration categories applies to you. Scroll to bottom of
page and ‘click here’ to start registration.
4. The next page repeats registration categories (and fees), each one followed by the word ‘register’ plus the option to
register for the free poetry slam only. This step puts items in your shopping cart. Click on ‘register’ behind the category
that fits your intentions.
5. Regardless of which category you click on, you will be sent to a page that offers two choices: ‘Returning Registrant/API
Member’ or ‘First Time Registrant.’ This is what gets you into our system.
6. A. Returning Registrants/API Members enter username (the email address you used here
before) and password. Note: our password security has been updated, so if your
password doesn’t work, follow directions to set a new password. After you log in
you will see your registration summary Click ‘Proceed’ and you will see what’s
in your cart ($ dependent on what you chose to register as). Click proceed again to
see ‘additional purchases’ options; make your selections, but whether or not you want
to make additional purchases, you must click on ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on the ADA
Accessibility box. Remember to specify number and size if you are ordering things.
Finally, click ’Save and Continue’ to complete your registration, enter payment, and
be referred back to the homepage so you can pursue your options.
B. New Registrants go to bottom of page and click on Create New Profile and fill in
appropriate blanks, then click ‘Proceed’ and you will see your registration summary.
Click ‘Proceed’ again and you will see what’s in your cart ($ dependent on what you
chose to register as). Click proceed again to see ‘additional purchases’ options; make
your selections, but whether or not you want to make additional purchases, you must click
on ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on the ADA Accessibility box. Remember to specify number and size if you
are ordering things. Finally, click on ’Save and Continue’ to complete your registration,
enter payment, and be referred back to the homepage so you can pursue your options.
7. Now you can:
A. Browse some more, join API, or make a donation.
B. If you have registered to submit only go to the ‘Adult Anthology' tab and click on Submissions
to submit your poems. This sends you to the Submittable website which gathers some identifying
information (so that we can link your name, your poems, and your AIPF ID as we prepare the
anthology), allows you to submit up to three poems, and processes your credit card for the
$30.00 submission fee, then gives you the option to close out or return to the AIPF Home Page.
C. If you have registered to attend the Festival only, go to the ‘Festival' tab and click on both
‘City Reads Sign Up’ or ‘Workshops and Sign Up’ tab (doesn’t matter which one you do first),
review the choices, go to the bottom of the page you’re on and ‘Click Here’ after which you’ll
be sent to the sign-up page to list your choices. Click on ‘Submit’ at the bottom of that page to
complete your sign-up for that topic, and you’ll see a page that summarizes your progress.
D. Now, repeat step C for the alternate sign-up (the one you didn’t do first).
E. If you have registered to submit and attend the Festival, follow steps B, C and D, (the order in
which you do this doesn’t matter).
8. You are now finished with the site registration and whatever event options you’ve chosen. What should you expect now?
A. You will get email confirmation(s) of your activity on the website and Submittable.
B. Your name will appear on the website listing for City Reads and Workshop choices you’ve made.
C. Your name and bio, if you submitted one and are registered to attend the Festival, will appear in the Festival’s
D. You will be notified a few weeks before the Festival whether any of your poems (and which one) will be in the
E. You will be on our mailing list for Festival announcements and any other API business of interest.
F. Come April, you will have your socks knocked off at the 26th annual AIPF.
