An anthology of poetry, di-vêrsé-city, is published annually to coincide with the Austin International Poetry Festival. Di-vêrsé-city, the anthology, has two faces - one for adults and one for youth. Submissions are blindly reviewed by the editors or a panel of readers. Every year a prestigious poet is asked to judge the poetry competition for the adult and youth anthology. The Judge turns over a winner's list to the Festival Director who announces the results during the festival.
Submissions for the adult anthology selected for publication (no more than one per poet) are entered into AIPF’s adult poetry competition, the Christina Sergeyevna Contest. Submissions to the youth anthology selected for publication (no more than one per poet) are entered into AIPF’s youth poetry competition, the Akers Award for Youth Poetry Contest.
Poets are not required to attend the festival to submit poems for the anthology. Adult submission cost and the adult registration cost are completely separate. Youth poetry submissions and events are free! Whether adult or youth, poets who submit must go to the Registration Page to register for the Festival before submitting poems.
Poets who have an accepted poem receive one free copy of the anthology, and are invited to read the poem at the Anthology Launch during the Festival. If the poet does not attend the Festival, a print copy will be mailed to the U S. address listed on the Submission Form within 60 days of the Festival’s closing. If the address on the Submission Form is not within the U.S., an electronic copy will be sent unless the poet pays for shipping and handling.
